The Beginning Was In The Letting Go

A letter to the girl who was afraid to let go:

There is a version of me that clung on so tightly to things- even when they no longer fit. This is the letter I wrote to her, from the other side.

She had to crack open for something beautiful to bloom
She had to crack open for something beautiful to bloom

Hey,

You held on because it felt safe.

To people, routines, and versions of life that looked good on paper.

Even when they left you drained. Even when deep down you knew it didn't fit anymore.

You stayed loyal to the familiar, because it felt safer than walking into the unknown.

You let yourself stay small in order to keep the boat from rocking.

But eventually, you let go.

And yes- you did fall apart.

And everything cracked open.

You lost things you didn't even know you could lose.

Including yourself.

Who were you without the people, routines, identity, that you used to cling to so tightly?

You were stripped down to the core. You saw yourself for what you truly were.

But here is the thing: You didnt stay down.

You stood up again- battered, wobbly and filled with self doubt. But you stood up again and thats the part that matters.

You are rebuilding. Taking your time to do it slowly, deliberately and intentionally.

You are learning to make choices based on self trust.

You are showing up for yourself even when its messy and confusing. Sometimes it feels like you are in a mirror maze. You take the wrong turn. You go backwads. Then forwards. You are slowly figuring it out.

This isnt abut having it all figured out though.

It's about getting back up again.

Again and again if you have to.

The thing is- this time you arent tethered. Every step is yours. Messy, raw, chaotic and authentically just yours.

You are not waiting for someone else to show up. You are doing it on your own.

And its the most beautiful journey.
